Trade Fair

One of the first activities done in E-325 involved using something of the past that is still common in life today, trading! Our class participated as a whole in bringing in old or unwanted items to trade to get new items amongst our classmates. This activity helped each individual understand at a deeper level the concept of value. Some students brought in items they wanted to get rid of and others brought things that they were not quite ready to give up, but in the end everyone was a happy camper! This was one way that we as adults could reflect on the impact of trading and how it has evolved over time. With some guidance in the classroom this is a technique that could be used to help students understand how the past has an impact on the present world. Too often history is something that is thought of to be dead or irreverent but that is not true and can come alive in classrooms through activities such as setting up a Trade Fair.
